Movies On Demand on Cable Schedule Update - January 2013

Movies On Demand launches into 2013 with an array of films already getting buzz as we approach awards season.  A range of titles will satisfy families, adventure-seekers as well as indie lovers. All of the major releases below premiere on MOD the same day as DVD and are offered in both standard and high-definition*, along with many indies. January 2013 Movies On Demand on cable major studio premieres:

January is the perfect time for MOD viewers to start catching up on titles they may have missed in the theaters which are already getting 2013 Oscar buzz.  Golden Globe nominations just came out and two of the hottest new animated films on the list - Tim Burton's "Frankenweenie" as well as "Hotel Transylvania" - are on MOD this month. Plus viewers have a chance to catch recent movie gems such as Woody Allen's ode to the world's most famous Italian city, "To Rome With Love," or the hit film "Taken 2" with Liam Neeson.  Also on the bill is the well-reviewed "End of Watch" with Jake Gyllenhaal and "Seven Psychopaths" with Colin Farrell, Woody Harrelson, Christopher Walken and more.  Details of availability and other info is listed below.

January 2013 Independent Movies & other Titles of Note* (just a selection)

 Several indie titles premiering this month are already being discussed as possible Oscar contenders, among them "Detropia," about the spirit of the city of Detroit, the Brad Pitt-produced "The House I Live In," and "The Imposter."  Also of note is the 2013 Golden Globe nominee "The Paperboy" with Nicole Kidman, the inspiring story of the new nation of Lithuania sending their basketball team to the 1992 Olympics in "The Other Dream Team" and the Roman Coppola-directed "Charles Swan." 

Fascinating docus in January include "Sellebrity" about paparazzi, and "Samsara" featuring inspiring images from around the world, plus "Searching for Sugar Man," the true story of a rock musician rediscovered by devoted fans after decades of obscurity (96% likes on Rotten Tomatoes). "Farewell, My Queen" captures the days of Marie Antoinette and the French Revolution. Plus, MOD viewers can catch the 2012 Best Documentary Feature Oscar-winner "Undefeated" about a Memphis TN high school football team and "Knife Fight," the political thriller with Rob Lowe which comes to MOD just a few days after it premieres in theaters.
